“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
From the Founder…
Be a pioneer. Let the world know that menopause and andropause, left untreated, will cause disease.
It’s true. It starts out as a small pocket of people who are committed to making a change for the better for all people. People who won’t give up, who see the injustice in doing nothing. People whose actions are fueled by facts few are aware of. You can be one of these people.
It’s also true that some illnesses can be treated and some cannot. For those illnesses that can be treated it is a travesty to allow human suffering and disability when there is safe and effective treatment available. It is an equal injustice to suggest that treatment cannot be safe and effective based on blatantly discriminatory and unethical medical research (i.e. calling a drug HRT when it really isn’t). When medical research uses modern, state of the art medications for men and archaic, contaminated medications for women for the same illness it shows bias weaved into the medical research. It is unfair and it is unethical.
The bias is well concealed, as are the facts. The illness, low ovarian hormones, is easily treated. Simply replace the hormones to normal levels. The only way do to do that is to measure the levels before and after medication is given and adjust the dosage. Simple, straightforward, and powerful. This method works for insulin replacement for diabetes, for thyroid replacement for low thyroid, and for cortisol replacement. In fact, it works for every hormone replacement in men and women. The science of hormone replacement is one of the most successful in medicine.
The bias can been seen in how clinical trials are different for men and women. Successful clinical trials measure hormone levels before and after hormone medication is given, and adjust levels as necessary. Unsuccessful clinical trials do not measure hormone levels and make no adjustments in dosage. Over nearly 100 years of clinical trials, ovarian hormone levels in women have never been tested. Now you can see why the trials have failed. No measurement means no adjustments means no success means no options.
So what does this mean to every doctor and every man and woman that are looking for hormone replacement? Because clinical trials have never followed the rules of successful hormone replacement (measure, monitor, and adjust dosages), all of these trials have failed. It is important to understand that the failure of these trials is the failure of the hormone regimens used, not real hormone replacement. Hormone replacement trials are always successful when hormone levels are measured, monitored and adjusted. Remember, there is not a switch in our bodies that signals that hormones are no longer needed. The way our bodies work never changes. It may be natural to have declining hormones levels, but it is not healthy.
Because HRT clinical trials have never followed the rules of successful replacement, every doctor makes up his or her own replacement therapy. That’s right. Every doctor and every woman and man are on their own.
This situation does not have to continue. You can make a difference. You can help support DRF in its mission to make effective treatment available to everyone by educating the medical and lay communities, and reduce the inequality in treatment between women and men. Please join me in making a difference for the better, for all.
Looking forward to a better and healthier future for all women and men,
